1. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer cells do not show up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billion. When doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are unable to detect the cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable size.

2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a person's lifetime.

3. When the person's immune system is strong the cancer cells will be destroyed and prevented from multiplying and forming tumors.

4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has multiple nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to genetic, environmental, food and lifestyle factors.

5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing diet and including supplements will strengthen the immune system.

6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing cancer cells and also destroys rapidly-growing healthy cells in the bone marrow, gastro-intestinal tract etc, and can cause organ damage, like liver, kidneys, heart, lungs etc.

7. Radiation while destroying cancer cells also burns, scars and damages healthy cells, tissues and organs.

8. Initial treatment with chemotherapy and radiation will often reduce tumor size. However prolonged use of chemotherapy and radiation do not result in more tumor destruction.

9. When the body has too much toxic burden from chemotherapy and radiation the immune system is either compromised or destroyed, hence the person can succumb to various kinds of infections and complications.

10. Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells to mutate and become resistant and difficult to destroy. Surgery can also cause cancer cells to spread to other sites.

11. An effective way to battle cancer is to STARVE the cancer cells by not feeding it with foods it needs to multiple.

What cancer cells feed on:

a. Sugar is a cancer-feeder. By cutting off sugar it cuts off one important food supply to the cancer cells. Note: Sugar substitutes like NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc are made with Aspartame and it is harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka honey or molasses but only in very small amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in colour. Better alternative is Bragg's aminos or sea salt.

b. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened soy milk, cancer cells will starved.

c. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment. A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little chicken rather than beef or pork. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with cancer.

d. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline environment. About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to cellular levels within 15 minutes t o nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells.

To obtain live enzymes for building healthy cells try and drink fresh vegetable juice (most vegetables including bean sprouts) and eat some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C).

e. Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have high caffeine. Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer-fighting properties. Water--best to drink purified water, or filtered, to avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap water. Distilled water is acidic, avoid it.

12. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the intestines will become putrified and leads to more toxic buildup.

13. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By refraining from or eating less meat it frees more enzymes to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the body's killer cells to destroy the cancer cells.

14. Some supplements build up the immune system (IP6, Flor-ssence, Essiac, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, EFAs etc.) to enable the body's own killer cells to destroy cancer cells. Other supplements like vitamin E are known to cause apoptosis, or programmed cell death, the body's normal method of disposing of damaged, unwanted, or unneeded cells.

15. Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit. A proactive and positive spirit will help the cancer warrior be a survivor.

16. Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated environment. Exercising daily, and deep breathing help to get more oxygen down to the cellular level. Oxygen therapy is another means employed to destroy cancer cells.

Birds could turned back into Dinosaurs - A real life Jurassic Park

Oxford biochemist says dinosaurs and Woolly Mammoths could be brought back to life - but dinosaurs could be trickier.


They bestrode the earth millions of years ago before dying out, but dinosaurs could theoretically be brought back to life, according to an Oxford biochemist.
Dr Alison Woollard said it would be theoretically possible to recreate ancient animals, through the DNA of birds.
By identifying and altering certain genes found in the DNA of modern birds, she believes scientists may be able to “design” genomes of the prehistoric creatures.
“We know that birds are the direct descendants of dinosaurs, as proven by an unbroken line of fossils which tracks the evolution of the lineage from creatures such as the velociraptor or T-Rex through to the birds flying around today,” said Dr Woollard.
“The most famous of these is the Archaeopteryx, a fossil which clearly shows the transition between feathered dinosaurs and modern birds.
“This evolution implies that buried deep within the DNA of today’s birds are switched-off genes that control dinosaur-like traits.
All animals and plants are related, sharing a common ancestor that lived about 1.6 billion years ago.
“In theory we could use our knowledge of the genetic relationship of birds to dinosaurs to 'design’ the genome of a dinosaur,” said Dr Woollard.
However, despite the theoretical possibility, there are practical obstacles and ethical questions that cannot be ignored.”
The difficulty, claims Dr Woollard is understanding the full length of a dinosaur’s genome in order to know which edits to make to a bird’s genome.
Even if surviving dinosaur DNA was uncovered, it would be found in very short fragments.
To make a full genome, scientists would have to combine together millions of short fragments of nucleic acids in exactly the right order, just like putting together an enormous jigsaw puzzle where each tiny piece was shaped exactly alike.
However bringing back a Woolly Mammoth would pose fewer problems.
With modern cloning techniques it is possible to bring back extinct species which died out within the 6.8 million year time-frame, if viable cells could be found.
Dr Woollard said: “The researchers would need to harvest an egg from the mammoth’s closest living relative the elephant, a process that is tricky enough in itself, that has yet to be done successfully, replace the elephant cell’s nucleus with the mammoth nucleus and induce cell division through electric shock.
“And on a more practical note, if we remind ourselves of the terror portrayed in the Jurassic Park blockbuster ... do we really want to live alongside dinosaurs?”. 
As with most scientific advancement, it's the unintended consequences that can be the most fascinating.

Hyundai To Sell Hydrogen Powered Car in 2014, 300-mile range expected

Cars that run on hydrogen and exhaust only water vapor are emerging to challenge electric vehicles as the world's transportation of the future.

Hyundai says it will begin selling a hydrogen-powered Tucson compact SUV in 2014. It’s one of several auto show announcements this week in Los Angeles and Tokyo about hydrogen fuel cell vehicles being readied for production. Hyundai says this will be the first mass-market hydrogen vehicle available in the US.

"These things are now ready for prime time," said John Krafcik, CEO of Hyundai North America. Less ready is the infrastructure needed to keep the cars on the road: California has only nine hydrogen filling stations, and no state has them widely available. California will have 100 more stations by 2023.

Even as the industry focused on battery-powered and hybrid cars, automakers such as Hyundai, Honda and Toyota kept up research on fuel cells. Now they appear to have conquered obstacles such as high costs, safety concerns and a lack of filling stations. These vehicles could help the companies meet stricter future fuel-economy standards.

At a media event in Michigan at a Hyundai R&D facility, Hyundai North America CEO John Krafcik told reporters that a hydrogen fuel cell “brings together the best features of battery electric vehicles.” Krafcik also touted the “great range” of hydrogen vehicles. Range in the new generation of hydrogen vehicles could be 300 miles versus the 75-100 miles for most EVs, or 200-250 miles for Teslas.

Hyundai says it has overcome safety and storage issues with a rear-mounted tank that has passed numerous crash tests without incident. The fuel cell combines pressurized, gaseous hydrogen with oxygen in the air to produce electricity that powers electric motors and move the vehicle. Water is the only emission.

European Satellite will crash to Earth Sunday Night or Monday

The European Space Agency’s (ESA) Gravity field and steady-state Ocean Circulation Explorer (GOCE) satellite is ready to make an uncontrolled entry into Earth’s atmosphere in about a day. However, nobody knows where the satellite will end up. 

Fragments from satellite are set to crash into Earth late Sunday or Monday, as the probe has completed its fact-finding mission. The Gravity Ocean Circulation Explorer (GOCE) satellite was sent into space in March 2009 

GOCE, or Gravity field and steady-state Ocean Circulation Explorer, ran out of gas last month and has been steadily sinking towards the Earth. ESA says that the 1,100 kg satellite has already fallen to an altitude of 160 km. 

“Most of these fragments will completely burn up. A small fraction of the initial spacecraft mass -- about 20 percent or 200 kilograms [440 pounds] -- is expected to reach ground, distributed across dozens of fragments, spread over a sizable re-entry ground swath.”

Professor Heiner Klinkrad from the ESA said: "At present we can not say where the re-entry is going to happen except that it is not going to happen north of the 85 northern latitude or south of 85 southern latitude.

The chances of it dropping on your head are remote. For one, Earth is over 70 percent water. Secondly, there are large uninhabited parts of the world.

Man Implants Smartphone-Sized Computer Into His Arm

Self-professed biohacker Tim Cannon has become the first human being to have a non-medical computer implanted inside his body. The Circadia 1.0 is about the size of a small smartphone and was implanted in Tim’s forearm without the aid of anesthetic or a licensed doctor. The device is designed to gather biometric data and beam it to a mobile device, making Tim Cannon the first DIY Cyborg.




The wirelessly charged sensor, developed over the course of 18 months by Cannon and his fellow hackers/artists at Grindhouse Wetware, monitors his vital signs, then transmits that real-time data via Bluetooth to his Android device.
Cannon told Vice's Motherboard that Circadia 1.0 could “send me a text message if it thinks that I’m getting a fever.” The device could then help determine what factors are causing the fever. Future versions of the sensor are expected to monitor the pulse and — thankfully — come in a smaller, less ghastly package.
The team at Grindhouse Wetware claims to have already perfected a pulse sensor that will be integrated with the next version of the Circadia. Cannon expects the first production series of the chip to be ready in a few months and said it will cost around $500.

India set to launch its debut Mars mission

India's 4.5 billion rupee ($73.5 million) mission to Mars, the nation’s first true interplanetary probe, is now slated to lift off Nov. 5 at 2:36 local time from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

India's Mars Orbiter Mission will try to confirm whether the Red Planet's atmosphere contains methane – " A Possible Sign of Life".

The 2013 Indian mission will also be part of a major new international initiative to study the Martian atmosphere to determine what led to the planet's loss of surface water while also pinpointing locations giving off methane gas, a possible indication of subsurface Martian life.

The launch of the 2,976 pound (1,350 kilogram) Mars Orbiter Mission aboard an enhanced version of ISRO’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle had been scheduled for Oct. 28, but was delayed because ships equipped to track the spacecraft after its separation from the rocket could not take up their designated positions in the south Pacific Ocean in time due to bad weather. The spacecraft, dubbed Mangalyan, has been mated with the launcher and the heat shield has been closed, ISRO said.

If everything goes according to plan, Mangalyan will leave Earth orbit in November and cruise in deep space for 10 months using an onboard propulsion system before entering into a 231 mile (372 kilometers) by 49,709 mile (80,000 kilometers) elliptical orbit around Mars. ISRO says the primary objectives of the orbiter are to demonstrate India’s technological capability, look for signs of life and study the planet’s atmospheric composition.

World's first Bionic man, REX

The Bionic Man is the world's first robot human made entirely
of prosthetic parts.
While scientists have built many artificial organs individually, they have never before been put together to create an entire human body. Rex or as he has recently been renamed Frank (after Frankenstein), the world's first fully functional bionic man has just changed that. Now on display at the National Air And Space Museum in Washington D.C., the human clone was assembled in three short months using state-of-the-art organs that were donated by 17 manufacturers- A good thing given that the total cost came to about $1 million USD.

Roboticists Rich Walker and Matthew Godden of Shadow Robot Co. in England led the assembly of the bionic man from prosthetic body parts and artificial organs donated by laboratories around the world.

The robot, which cost almost $1 million to build, was modeled in some physical aspects after Bertolt Meyer, a social psychologist at the University of Zurich, in Switzerland, who wears one of the world's most advanced bionic hands. 

The bionic man is six and half feet tall, weighs 170lbs and can sit, stand and walk with the help of an exoskeleton that is used to help people with spinal injuries.

While the exterior is certainly interesting, it is as they say what's on the inside, that matters - And in Rex's case there is plenty - Starting from most technologically advanced robotic limbs to a functioning heart that pumps oxygen and artificial blood around his body. He also has a lung, kidney, heart, spleen and even a pancreas. A retinal implant allows the bionic man to sense objects around him, while a cochlear insert enables him to hear.

All in all, Rex has about 60-70 percent functionality of a normal human. He is still missing some key parts like a digestive system, liver, skin and most importantly, a brain.

Rex who was first unveiled at London's Science Museum in February of this year, made his way across the Atlantic neatly packed up in two suitcases, earlier this month. After meeting with his fans at New York's Comic-Con, the bionic man flew to the National Air and Space Museum, where he will will be on display for a few months for all to admire, before heading back to England.

Solar-powered cars streak across Australia


World Solar Challenge . In it, the fastest solar-powered cars race from Darwin to the sleepy city of Adelaide in the south, hitting speeds of more than 100 kilometres per hour. Cars making it to the end will have travelled 3000 kilometres through the red deserts into the woodlands of South Australia. 


Billed as the world’s first solar-powered family car, “Stella” was crowned the overall winner in its class at the World Solar Challenge in Australia, while a team from Canada won the event’s safety award.

Developed by a team from Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands, the solar-powered sedan, dubbed "Stella," completed a 3,000 km trek across Australia from Darwin to Adelaide. 


More than 40 teams from 24 countries competed in the world’s largest solar electric vehicle event.

The race, held every two years, offers categories for different classes of cars. Stella won in the Michelin Cruiser class. The goal in this class is not speed but practicality, "with the ultimate goal of an entrant being able to meet the requirements for road registration in the country of origin."

The Canadian team from the University of Calgary also competed in the Cruiser class and earned the Bridgestone Event Safety Award.

Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons wins 2013 Nobel peace prize

A once-obscure international organization that was thrust into the global limelight this year when it was handed the task of securing and eliminating Syria's chemical weapons has won the 2013 Nobel Peace Prize

A team from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons is currently on the ground in Damascus assessing the information provided to them by the regime of Bashar al-Assad and drafting a plan to eliminate Syria’s stockpile – believed to measure around 1,000 tonnes – of deadly nerve agents sarin and VX.

The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons is the implementing body of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), which entered into force in 1997. As of today the OPCW has 189 Member States, who are working together to achieve a world free from chemical weapons. They share the collective goal of preventing chemistry from ever again being used for warfare, thereby strengthening international security.

To this end, the Convention contains four key provisions:
1. destroying all existing chemical weapons under international verification by the OPCW;


2. monitoring chemical industry to prevent new weapons from re-emerging;

3. providing assistance and protection to States Parties against chemical     threats; and

4. fostering international cooperation to strengthen implementation of the  Convention and promote the peaceful use of chemistry.



The OPCW, based in the Hague in the Netherlands, has about 500 staff and an annual budget of under $100 million.

The OPCW is overseeing the destruction of Syria's chemical weapons.The OPCW, which has 189 member states, has said Syria was cooperating and it could eliminate its chemical weapons by mid-2014, provided they received support from all sides in its civil war.

Karplus, Levitt, Warshel shares 2013 Nobel Prize for Chemistry

   The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences on Wednesday announced that scientists Michael Levitt, Arieh Warshel and Martin Karplus have won this year's Nobel Prize in chemistry.They were cites "for the development of the multiscale models for complex chemical systems." 

    Israeli professor Arieh Warshel, 72,born on 20 Nov,1940 is a distinguished professor of chemistry and biochemistry at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles,where he has been since the 1970s.Michael levitt,66 a South Africa born professor taught at the Weizmann institute in Rehovot for most of the 1980s,was born on 9 May 1947 in Pretoria, South Africa and the fellow Vienna-born martin Karplus, 83 born in 15 March 1930 field the Nazi occupation of Austria as a child in 1938.

  The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences on Wednesday said, upon awarding the prize of 8 million crowns ($1.25 million), that their research in the 1970s has helped scientists develop programs that unveil chemical processes such as the purification of exhaust fumes or the photosynthesis in green leaves. 

   



Peter Higgs and Francois Englert shares 2013 Nobel Prize for Physics



The 84-year old Englishman Peter Higgs (left), won the Nobel Prize for Physics along with the 80-year old Francois Englert of Belgium (right), for "the theoretical discovery of a mechanism that contributes to our understanding of the origin of mass of subatomic particles", and which recently was confirmed through the discovery of the predicted fundamental particle, by the ATLAS and CMS experiments at CERN's Large Hadron Collider. Both the scientists proposed their radical idea in separate research published a few weeks apart in 1964 and it has taken half a century of painstaking experiments to prove their theory correct.

Peter Higgs born on 29 May, 1929 is a  British theoretical physicist and emeritus professor at the University of Edinburgh and Francois Englert, born in 6 Nov, 1932 is a Belgium theoretical physicist and emeritus professor at the University libre de Bruxelles.

Though widely expected, the latest Nobel award is also a controversial one, partly because several other scientists—and CERN itself—can claim significant credit for work done on the Boson. A Nobel Prize can be shared by a maximum of three people and isn't granted posthumously.


Dr. Englert, published his landmark 1964 paper with colleague Robert Brout, who died in 2011. Other strong contenders were three scientists, Carl Hagen of the University of Rochester, Tom Kibble of Imperial College and Gerald Guralnik of Brown University, who published a very similar theory just one month after Dr. Higgs of the U.K. published his paper, which affixed his name to the fabled particle for posterity.


The Nobel Prize in physics is seen as the most prestigious award of its kind, and comes with an 8 million Swedish kronor ($1.25 million) cash award. The winner is appointed by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, after a process in which thousands of scientists world-wide are invited to name contenders.
