Micromax Canvas Magnus with 12-megapixel camera launched

Micromax's new mid-range smartphone, the Canvas Magnus is now officially available via the company's site with a price tag of Rs. 14,999.


The Canvas Magnus A117 appears to be inspired by company's previous successful handset, the Canvas HD. If one compares the Canvas Magnus A117 with Canvas HD A116, the only big difference that makes them different is the rear-facing camera. The Canvas Magnus A117 features a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera, whereas the Canvas HD comes with an 8-megapixel camera.

The Android 4.2 Jelly Bean-based Micromax Canvas Magnus A117 comes with a 5-inch IPS display with a 720x1280 pixels resolution. It is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core processor (unspecified chipset) along with 1GB of RAM. The Canvas Magnus is a dual-SIM device with support for GSM+GSM. Other features included are a 12-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 2-megapixel front camera, 4GB of internal storage that can be expanded to up to 32GB using a microSD card and a 2,000mAh battery.


The Canvas Magnus A117 comes pre-loaded with an array of apps. Some of the highlighted apps include: M! Live, M! Security, M! Unlock, Games (Fruit Devil , Dark Man, Jelly jumper), Kingsoft, Spuul, Hike, Game Hub, Opera Mini, Look Away, FOTA, BBM Link.
Other connectivity options include: 3G, 2G (EDGE), Bluetooth 4.0, Dual SIM, A-GPS, FM Radio, Wi-Fi, USB 2.0, amongst other features. The device also features smart gesture options: Proximity sensor, Light sensor, Gravity sensor, and Motion sensor. The makers have added a 2000mAh battery.
It is also rumoured that it will soon launch Canvas Turbo, which will have a 5-inch full-HD display, 13-megapixel camera accompanied by an LED flash. It is expected to have and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. the specification of this smartphone were leaked earlier this month.
