LG's G Flex Smartphone Magically Heals itself - Even after a knife attack

One of the unique features of the LG G Flex is not only its curved display, but the fact that LG has advertised that the phone comes with self-healing powers in which scratches made to the back of the phone will be able to heal itself and magically disappear, making it look as though your phone is brand new.

YouTube user Marques Brownlee posted a video of him scarring the back of the upcoming curved Android phone, the G Flex. After scratching the phone, the G Flex starts repairing the scratch itself. The future is here, and it’s real.

Like magic, scratches from even a knife slowly disappear into the casing. Heat helps speed up the healing process, too, so rubbing your hands on the cover minimizes scratches much more quickly. You can push the sides of the curved display, essentially flattening it out before it slowly resumes its natural bended position.

LG released a video earlier last week that showed off the healing powers of the G Flex. While the technology behind this “magic” remains unknown for now, LG did clarify that this will only work with light scratches that might occur on a day-to-day basis, such as scratching against coins or keys in your pocket, as opposed to deep scratches that might be the result of a drop on the pavement.

But the real showstopper is in how the device lives up to its name by keeping its form factor even when very heavy weights are placed upon it. The heavy load flattens the G Flex out, but when lifted, the handset very quickly reverts back to shape.

LG has yet to reveal exactly how the scratch-proofing works, although it is reckoned by some that small amounts of resin are embedded into the material and, when scratched, simply fills the cracks.
