Google Nexus 5 hardware details leaked by Canadian carrier

Google’s LG-made, plastic-backed Nexus 5 smartphone, possibly one of the most leaked as-yet-unannounced handsets ever, will be available in white as well as black, as yet another leak has revealed.

Twitter user EVLeaks, which has leaked images of several gadgets in the past, has released an image of the black and white model of Google's next flagship smartphone, along with the alleged launch date for the device. Several images of the Nexus 5 have been leaked on the internet previously.

Earlier, Google accidentally listed the device on the Play Store, along with its pricing.

The Nexus 5 was rumoured to be launched on October 28, but recent reports have pointed out that the launch has been postponed till November. A November 1 launch date would mean that the unveiling of Nexus 5 would clash with the launch of the new iPads. Apple will also launch the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C in India on the same day.

The Nexus 5 - of either hue - will contain a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon chip running at up to 2.3GHz and equipped with 2GB of RAM to play around with, as well as a 4.95-inch, 1920 x 1080 display to draw pictures on.

There’s nothing particularly impressive about that spec - confirmed through a, yes, leaked service manual - so the real interest in the Nexus 5 lies in the fact that it will run the next major version of Android, 4.4 Kit-Kat.

The LTE-connected Nexus 5’s choice of colours seems decidedly conservative in comparison with Apple’s rainbow range of iPhone 5Cs, though if the rumours that the latter aren’t selling so well are to be believed perhaps Google and LG are right to follow the very well-trodden monochrome path.

Google and LG will undoubtedly be hoping to supplant the 5C with their own offering - whenever it finally gets an official unveiling and release date.
